Unfortunately, due to the continuing health risks of hosting large public events posed by COVID-19, the Engineering Group of the Geological Society has taken the decision to further postpone this event. You can find further updates on the page for the rescheduled event, which will be taking place from 15 to 17 April 2021 at Christ’s College Cambridge.

The Engineering Group of the Geological Society will host its 2020 Annual Conference between 24 and 26 September at Christ’s College, Cambridge.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘The role of the engineering geologist in the climate change challenge’, and will bring together practitioners and academics from across our industry.

Speakers

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Jim Gelder (Mott MacDonald)
  • Peter Head, CBE FREng (Arup)
  • Professor Colin Hills (University of Greenwich)
  • Kevin W Jones (Tetra Tech Canada)
  • Fleur Loveridge (University of Leeds)

Continued Professional Development (CPD)

While the conference itself is excellent CPD, we will be hosting a bespoke training session before the start of the full conference.

Sessions will focus on state-of-the-art approaches to climate change mitigation and adaptation for engineering geologists. Instructors include Professor Mike Winter (Winter Associates Limited) and Dr Phil Renforth (Heriot-Watt University).

The CPD training can be booked during registration for an additional £100 on top of your ticket price, which includes lunch and refreshments.
