In this lecture, Eddie Bromhead reflects on many issues that can compromise safety during geological and geotechnical fieldwork, and makes suggestions about how the risks can be reduced or eliminated. He considers a variety of types of participant, from professionals undertaking work alone or on construction sites, through university and college field trips, all the way to teachers and others in charge of teenagers and children.

The potential hazards are legion, and clearly only a subset of them can be included in a single lecture, but the intention is not to be prescriptive, but to raise awareness not only of issues, but of some solutions. Safety is not simply a matter of wearing a hard hat – in many cases it requires a change in mindset.

Join the Thames Valley Regional Group for a 7.00pm talk start.
