Please note that this event has been postponed due to the public health risk posed by the coronavirus. The Thames Valley Regional Group hopes to hold the event at a later date in their 2020 programme.

This is a joint event between the Thames Valley Regional Group of the Geological Society, Reading Geological Society and the Berkshire Geoconservation Group.

Tom Power will be giving a talk about the Wing SSSI, which contains one of the most complete sequences of interglacial peat in the country.

The talk aims to rekindle interest in the site, covering the formation of the depositional basin, the peat, its pollen and vegetation, the chronology of the peat and preceding glaciation, and how processes associated with glaciers of west Greenland may help some of the characteristics of the Wing SSSI.

Please arrive from 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start.
