Speaker: Asmeret Asefaw Berhe from the University of California 

Soil is literally the foundation of life on earth. But, currently, the soil system is experiencing an unprecedented level of degradation due to human actions. In this presentation, Asmeret Asafaw Berhe will discuss the global extent and distribution of soil degradation, implications of soil degradation for climate change mitigation, and the different ways armed conflicts cause and perpetuate long-term degradation of the soil resources.
