Schools Affiliate Scheme

Schools Affiliates

Geology, although often not a stand alone subject within schools, is covered across all the science disciplines – Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Maths, as well as Geography. At the Geological Society we can provide support to those schools wishing to understand more about Earth Sciences and how to incorporate examples within the National Curriculum.

The GSL can provide the following supporting material to schools as part of the Schools Affiliate Scheme:

"" Monthly copy of Geoscientist Magazine "" Email updates on Schools events or resources
"" Access to the London Lecture series and other GSL events "" Online access to books and journals, e.g. the Lyell Collection
"" Concessionary rates for reference use of the Library "" Access to Regional Groups, who may provide local events/ talks for schools to attend
"" Copies of the Earth Science Week Material "" Email questions to a ‘real-life’ geologist
"" Visit The Geological Society’s Careers Days "" Online Teaching Resources, including Fact Sheets, Lesson Plans & Posters
"" Printed material about careers in Earth Sciences "" The opportunity for students to become Junior Members
