As a Fellow you will join an international community of geoscientists, with more than 11,000 Fellows worldwide in over 80 countries, with 20% based outside the UK. Fellows cover the spectrum of geoscience professions, from industry and consultancy to education and the public sector. Fellows are entitled to the postnominal ‘FGS’ to mark their commitment to the highest standards of professional behaviour.

Fellows receive a free subscription to one online GSL journal from the Lyell Collection, with other journals and print copies available for a small extra payment. Discounts are also available on subscriptions to other Society journals, as well as Geology Today and GSA’s Geology.
Free to Fellows, the Society’s monthly colour magazine has news, views, features and an events calendar.
- Fellows receive free online access to more than 400 volumes in the Book Archive.
- The Full Book Collection: For a small additional fee Fellows may subscribe to the Full Book Collection which includes all new and recent GSL online books.
Fellows who have not previously taken advantage of the Full Book Collection in the Lyell Collection are invited to become online subscribers for the remainder of the year for the reduced price of £37.50 instead of £80!
