Letters received by the Society between 1833-1880 have been bound into 19 volumes.  Some have been conserved and remounted into large folio binders, but later volumes are in their original state.  Handlists have been compiled for volumes 1-13 & 19 (see below) and a card index to these is held by the Society.

Of the copies of letters sent from the Society, only the first for 1845-63 has been listed.  However, many of the later volumes contain an index of the name of the addressee.  Most of the letters relate to routine business matters (e.g. membership, rather than geological/scientific matters.

Some of the lists are in manuscript only, so text cannot be found using Adobe Reader's search function.

NB: Many of these volumes are in bad physical condition, and cannot therefore be consulted.
