Access to Free Lyell Collection Content

The Geological Society of London is not an open-access publisher, but it does wish to make its content freely available to all those with an interest in research in the Earth sciences. To this end members of the public may enter the Lyell Collection, sign up for eTOC and research alerts, search the full content and browse recent and archival content. Lyell Collection search results link to abstracts or specially created extracts and these too are available without charge.

In addition, members of the public have free access to:

• The first or introductory article or chapter in all Special Publications and books in the Lyell Collection
• The full reference list, including links, wherever this has been collated into a single list for chapter-based book titles. 
• The full text of cited references from GeoScienceWorld (or otherwise hosted online by HighWirePress) – this service being available to subscribers only. 
• The full text of all articles written by the nineteenth century geologist, Charles Lyell, published in the Journal of the Geological Society.
