The Hydrogeological and Southern Wales Regional Groups of the Geological Society are hosting a one day seminar on Friday 27 January 2012 at Cardiff University, south Wales.

The UK has a long history of coal and metal mining activity which has left a legacy of contamination to soils, rivers and groundwater. This seminar brings together leading academics, regulators and consultants to discuss the latest understanding of the environmental impacts of mine waters and how these can be addressed in the UK and beyond.
