As a Fellow you will join an international community of geoscientists, with over 10,000 Fellows worldwide in over 80 countries, with 20% based outside the UK. Fellows cover the spectrum of geoscience professions, from industry and consultancy to education and the public sector. Fellows are entitled to the postnominal ‘FGS’ to mark their commitment to the highest standards of professional behaviour.

Lyell Collection – an online resource providing access to society journals and key book series
Journals – Fellows receive a free subscription to one online journal, with print copies available on payment of the appropriate charge. Discounts are also available on subscriptions to other Society journals, as well as Geology Today and GSA’s Geology
Geoscientist – Free to Fellows, the Society’s monthly colour magazine has news, views, features and an events calendar
Discounts on books – up to 50% off the Society’s highly acclaimed Special Publications and other books.

Professional qualifications – a route to gaining CSCS cards, SiLC status, European Geologist, professional membership of other geological bodies

Regional Groups – 14 Groups in the UK and one in Hong Kong provide an opportunity to meet geoscientists in your area at scientific and professional meetings and field trips. Fellows are allocated to Regional Groups based on their postcode.
Specialist Groups – 25 Specialist Groups organise meetings catering for all aspects of modern Earth science

Fellowship Directory – all Fellows can choose whether or not to be listed and can publicise consultancy services if they wish to do so
