Serials

The Collection

The Geological Society Library holds a collection of over 4,500 serial titles, of which over 800 are currently received by purchase, gift and exchange. 

New titles are notified in the list of Recent Additions (available here soon). Details of serial holdings will be found in the Library Catalogue, which contains links to electronic versions of print journals where they exist. Most of the material held by the Library is available for loan to members, and the Library operates a Photocopying Service (subject to copyright regulations).

Offsite access to selected journals using Athens passwords.

The Geological Society Library has arranged offsite online access to over 30 Elsevier journals for Fellows of the Society starting with issues published in 2004. Contact the Serials Librarian for further details or download and send an Athens User Account Application Form to the Library.

Two more e-journals - Journal of systematic palaeontology & Earth and environmental science transactions of the Royal Society of Edinburgh

Athens passwords can now also be used for offsite access to Earth and environmental science transactions of the Royal Society of Edinburgh from vol.92(2001) onwards, and all issues of Journal of systematic palaeontology.

Another two e-journals - Geotechnique & Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers: Geotechnical engineering

Athens passwords can now also be used for offsite access to Geotechnique from vol.51(2001) onwards, and Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers: Geotechnical engineering from vol.149(2001) onwards.

The Library has a selection of journal issues which are not required due to duplication, defect or damage. Check the Surplus Journals list for details of these items and how to request them.
