If you’ve forgotten either your username or your password please click on 'Forgot Username or Password' on the Login page. Please complete your email address along with your username or your password – the missing information will be emailed to you.
If there is an underscore in the username, e.g. john_2477 - please enter an underscore (not a space or a dash).
Fellows: Please email your name and membership number to membership@geolsoc.org.uk to receive a reminder of your original login details. Please allow several working days for a reply.
Non-Society members can register again. You will receive an email confirming your registration and including your new username – your password will not be emailed to you for security reasons.
Once logged in, you can update any user information via the 'Edit user details' link in the My GSL area.
GSL members - please login using your Society username and password to view and purchase at the member price.
AAPG, SEPM, IAVCEI, Geological Society of America, Geologists' Association or Micropalaeontological Society members -
PESGB, Yorkshire Geological Society, Edinburgh Geological Society, Geological Society of Glasgow and Mineralogical Society of America members should contact the sales department for an order form as their discount is not currently available via the online bookshop. MSA members receive discounts on the Rock-Forming Minerals series only.
Corporate Affiliate members receive 20% off the list price of books in the Society Special Publications series. To receive this discount please follow the instructions below:
We accept Visa, Visa Delta, MasterCard or AmEx online. Cards are debited as soon as the order is placed. Payments are debited in GBP (pounds sterling) and converted to local currency by the card company/bank. A confirmation email will be sent as soon as the order is complete.
Please note: No further items can be added to the order and the delivery method cannot be changed after checkout has been completed.
For GSL, TMS and IAVCEI titles and GA guides:
First, please check your SPAM folder in case the message has been diverted. Then login and check that your email address is correct in your Personal Details. If it is correct this could mean that the order has not completed successfully. Please call the sales office on +44 (0)1225 445046 or email sales@geolsoc.org.uk with the order details to clarify.
We do not accept Maestro online and we no longer accept Diners Club.
If your payment is by Visa, MasterCard or AmEx please check that all the card details on the payment screen are correct. Cards can be refused authorisation for several reasons - insufficient funds, a block on foreign or charity transactions or recent suspicious activity on the account. Please contact the card issuer to check if there is a problem.
We can try to process the card payment manually - please use the Fax/Post option at checkout step 3.
We accept UK Maestro cards for offline payments via the Fax/Post option at checkout step 3.
Go through to checkout step 3, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the ‘Pay by Fax/Post’ button. When you have checked the order summary shown, click ‘Print order’. You should then complete your payment details and fax the order to the sales department on +44 (0)1225 442836 or scan and email it to sales@geolsoc.org.uk. Please note that orders placed using the Post/Fax option are not listed in your order history.
If you wish to pay by cheque please post the printed order and a GBP cheque (or a US$ check using the current exchange rate) made payable to “Geological Society” to:

VAT is not charged on books. The current UK rate of VAT (17.5%) will be added automatically on DVD, Video, CD-Rom and rolled maps and charts for delivery within the UK. VAT is also applicable on these items for delivery within the European Union unless a company or institution VAT number is provided when you register or at checkout step 1. VAT is not charged for delivery to countries outside of the EU.
Orders are usually processed and dispatched within 5 working days. During busy periods please allow up to 10 working days for dispatch. Orders are dispatched in the order that they are received.
A notification email will be sent as soon as the order is dispatched from our warehouse.
UK delivery is by Royal Mail or ParcelForce. (ParcelForce deliveries require a signature on delivery). We are happy to arrange delivery to your work address.
Delivery times: please allow 2 to 7 working days from receipt of the notification of dispatch email.
Overseas parcels are collected from us by Royal Mail and then go into your local mail service (unless Airparcel or DHL has been selected at checkout). At checkout step 2 use the postage method drop down to view the options and prices for your parcel.
Delivery times (from the date of the notification of dispatch email): Standard surface mail can take 2 to 8 weeks for delivery. Airparcel can take up to 10 working days and DHL up to 5 working days.
Delivery times can be affected by customs clearance. Customs fees or local taxes may be charged to the recipient before delivery can be made.
A receipt will be sent with your order – it will either be inside the parcel or in a “Documents Enclosed” envelope on the outside.
If you pay online the full amount will be charged as payment is immediate (the difference will not be refunded).
Online sales are run throughout the year and items can be viewed during the sale by clicking ‘Sale Publications’. Sale titles must be ordered online within the sale dates to obtain the reduced price. Sign up to our Bookshop newsletter to be kept informed of upcoming sales.

- You will then see four tabs, click on the 'Corporate Affiliates Area' tab. Then click 'Edit my Corporate Affiliate status'.
- Select your company from the list of affiliates, enter your 'pass code' and then click 'Save'. If you do not have your passcode please contact the conference office.
Which payment methods are accepted on the online bookshop?

What is the delivery charge for my order?

- Europe: +15% of order total (minimum £8.00),
- Rest of World: +15% (minimum £12.50).

Booksellers should use the ‘Fax/Post’ option at checkout step 3 so that we can apply the discount to the order before taking payment. Trade discount is 10%. Normal postage rates apply.If you pay online the full amount will be charged as payment is immediate (the difference will not be refunded).

Why is there no ‘Add to Basket’ option on the title I want to order?
Products with no ‘Add to Basket’ button are unavailable for one of the following reasons which will be visible in the product listing:- Not Yet Published – The title will be available to buy as soon as we receive stocks into our warehouse. Please note that the Publication Date on the listing is an estimate.
- Out of Stock – The title is on order from the publisher or reprinting. If you require an out of stock item please email sales@geolsoc.org.uk with the details and we will try to provide a date for availability.
- Out of Print – The title is no longer available. We do not hold stocks of out of print titles - please try a second-hand bookseller for a print copy. For GSL titles you may be able to view content of the title electronically via the Lyell Collection.
