Support the Society

Your Society needs you!

In 2007 The Geological Society of London proudly celebrates it bicentenary. Over the past 200 years, your Society has achieved a great deal in helping the world to acknowledge the Earth's history, composition, and structure.

The significance of Earth Sciences has never been more important to the world. As geology's oldest national society, the Geological Society of London has ambitious plans to redefine itself for a third century, benefiting the Earth science community both on- and off-site, informing the public, and encouraging further developments in Earth Sciences by finding new exciting ways of doing what the Society has always done best - providing a platform for intense, lively debate and discussion.

All these changes will come at a price. Back in 1874, faced with similar challenges, the Society's Fellows donated a significant sum to furnish their new apartments in Mayfair. In 2007 we turn once again to both Fellows and outside organisations to help with refitting and updating Burlington House, to enable us to continue to be not just the oldest geological society, but also the most forward-thinking and go-ahead.

To date we have raised £180,000 in donations from Fellows. Although this is a magnificent start, there is a long, long way to go before we can begin any of the planned refurbishment programs. Therefore, we ask for those of you that have not so far donated and wish to do so, please do so as soon as possible.

The downloadable forms below can be sent to us, indicating the amount you are able to give. In addition, allowing us to claim Gift Aid will ensure that even more of your donation reaches the Society.

We look forward to hearing from you very soon!
