Early Publications
The Society began publishing the papers read at its meetings very early in its history, the earliest publications being the Transactions (1811-56) and Proceedings (1826-45). The Transactions are available online as part of the Lyell Collection, together with all the other major series published by the Geological Society.
The Archive contains much material relating to its publications, including some original drawings and maps. In addition it has some of the Referees Reports relating to the papers submitted for publication. A handlist has been compiled of those dated 1818-42 (LDGSL COM P4).
