From the Archives

The Archive contains a rich resource of illustrative material which the Society intends to make more widely available via its website. The first collection to appear is the selection of portraits featured in the section below.

Faces from the Heroic Age
 

The Society possesses a large collection of photographs of its Fellows, mostly dating from the later decades of the 19th and earlier decades of the 20th Centuries. For several years Geoscientist ran a monthly series, based on this collection, called "From the Archives", comprising a photograph of a renowned geologist, with a brief biography.

These photographs with their extended captions have now been transferred to our website and the entries have been ordered alphabetically. Please click on the links to the left to see the photographs in their new alphabetised sequence.
