This international symposium is being held in combination with the 7th Asian regional conference of the IAEG

The purpose of this symposium is to provide a platform for exchanging and discussing the typical engineering geological problems in major construction projects. The symposium programme includes visiting some key projects for onsite discussion and displays of engineering technology and equipment.

General Themes:

1: Geological risks and Environmental Geological problems in large-scale construction projects
2: Mechanism and control of large-scale landslides
3: Terrain stability, geo-hazards and risk control in mountainous cities in geologically active regions
4: Foundations of high dams, high buildings, bridges, etc
5: Engineering geological problems and Geo-hazards in the construction of long, wide and deep tunnels, roads and rail roads
6: Sustainable use of underground space in complex geological conditions

Special Themes:

1: Geo-engineering lessons learned from the 2008, May 12 Earthquake in Sichuan
2: Geo-engineering lessons learned from the construction of the Three Gorges Dam
