This international seminar is to discuss and promote technical progress and understanding of recent developments/issues in the design and construction of earthworks in European countries. It will seek to:
- Promote the disciplines of Engineering Geology and Geotechnical Engineering in the design of earthworks
- Encourage dialogue between earthworks professionals throughout Europe and the enhancement of pan European linkages and collaboration;
- Facilitate discourse on national practices and the establishment of European standards;
- Encourage an increase in coordinated European earthworks research

Language
The official seminar language is English. Simultaneous translation facilities will be available in French.Information and instructions to authors

Poster session
A poster session is to be included in the programme at the end of the first day. You will need to register for the Seminar, but there is no additional fee for presenting a poster. Please download the poster instructions for further information.

To register for the conference, please either complete the registration form attached to the above conference flyer, and return it to the Conference Office at The Geological Society, or register via the online system below.

Seminar evening reception and dinner
A drinks reception will be held during the poster session at the Royal Geographical Society to be followed by wine and a bowl food dinner in the Making of the Modern World Gallery at the Science Museum. This is located approximately 5 minute walk from the Royal Geographical Society along Exhibition Road, South Kensington.
Hotel and travel information
Hotel accommodation and travel arrangements are not included in the registration fee.
Seminar proceedings
Keynote papers and others will be produced in an Engineering Group Special Publication. You will be notified when this will be available to buy (after the event) through the Geological Society.
