A Geological Background for Applied Geology in Gloucestershire

This field day is being run by Dr Nick Chidlaw, a geologist with a background in teaching, research and industrial consulting. It will run from 9am-5pm.

It is designed to be of interest to Society members working in a variety of professions including ground engineering, petroleum geology, hydrogeology and education.

We shall visit two locations: Robinswood Hill, near Gloucester and Cleeve Hill, near Cheltenham. Members will be shown exposures in contrasting strata of a post-Carboniferous rift basin, together with landforms and road stabilization on the landslide-prone Cotswold Scarp.

If you would like to take part in the field trip, please register with the convenor by Friday 11 June 2010.

A pre-arranged buffet will be available on the day, cost of which will be included in the overall field trip price(modest cost to be confirmed based on numbers). If you have any particular dietary requirements please contact the Convenor
