The City Centre of Bath presents a unique set of challenges for the design and installation of
piled foundations. The underlying soils can dictate the piling methods required to a degree.
However when combined with concerns over artesian water and the restrictions placed upon
piling operations by the Avon Act, solutions are rarely straight forward.
Major schemes have recently been completed involving a significant techcical and practical
piling input. Discussion and information is presented on the problems encountered and
solutions employed.
