Statement issued after mediation

A statement has been released regarding mediation between the five Courtyard Societies and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister

On Tuesday 16 March 2004, the Five Courtyard Societies and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister undertook mediation in an attempt to settle their dispute out of court.

The following statement was subsequently released:

"ODPM and the Learned Societies had a very constructive meeting on 16 March which envisages the continued presence of the Learned Societies at Burlington House. Discussions are continuing with a view to formalising the arrangement on a basis which is acceptable to all parties."
