ICSU issues grant call

Call for Applications for the ICSU Grants Programme 2009

Geoscientist Online 1 October 2008

The Call for Applications for the ICSU Grants Programme 2009 has been issued. The Programme Statement and Schedule, as well as the Application Form are available in the Member Zone of the ICSU web site (www.icsu.org/index.php), and the deadline for receipt of applications is 1 December 2008.

All applications must be submitted by email to maureen@icsu.org. Only electronic applications are acceptable and applications received in other formats will not be considered. Only applications led by ICSU Scientific Unions, Interdisciplinary Bodies, or Joint Initiatives and supported by other ICSU bodies and partners will be accepted.

The total funding available for grants in 2009 is €300,000. To ensure that a reasonable number of grants can be funded in 2009, applications for up to a maximum of €30,000 will be considered. Proposals should target themes in the ICSU Strategic Plan 2006-2011. In particular, ICSU encourages applications for collaborative work with the ICSU Regional Offices focusing on their priority areas.

The roles of Supporting Applicants and any other partners in preparing and carrying out the proposed work must be made clear in the application. A Work Plan of the project, including detailed estimates on the planned use of the ICSU grant, must accompany the application form. Applicants are also advised to check that they have met all of the specified requirements prior to formal submission.

For any further information on the Grants Programme, please contact Maureen Brennan at the ICSU Secretariat (Maureen@icsu.org).
