Meeting Outline

The Geological Society's evening meeting on 'Contingent Resources: will they ever make it to Reserves?' is the third in the series on 'Resource and Reserves' related issues and follows on from the meetings on “AIM for Reserves and Resources” in 2007 and “Prospective Resources: do they have any value?” in 2008. The aim of the meeting is to discuss and debate how the various sectors within the oil and gas industry assess the value, uncertainty and risk associated with Contingent Resources.
 

Speakers

The Indepent Auditor
John Barker and Blake Hodson (Gaffney Cline and Associates)
They will give the auditor’s perspective in relation to economics, project maturity and technology.

The Operator
Yogi Sharma (Hardy Oil & Gas)
He will provide the view of the operator with reference to fiscal and licence terms, country entry strategies, timescales, project life cycles and the risks and uncertainty associated with technological applications.

The Investor
Paul Wheeler (Jefferies)
Will provide the insights from the investment community, such as valuation, technical maturity and commerciality together with a perspective of past transactions.
 

Programme

The three invited speakers will present their case and will then be joined by Simon McDonald of ERC and Graeme Simpson of RPS Energy in a panel discussion chaired by Bernie Vining of Gaffney Cline and Asociates. The evening will close with refreshments in the Lower Library at Burlington House.
