The aim of the Geological Society's 'Do Prospective Resources Have Any Value?' evening meeting is to discuss and debate how the various sectors within the oil and gas industry value exploration opportunities. The speakers will offer three differing perspectives ranging from the exploration company, through the investor to the independent auditor.
Richard Moreton (Bell Exploration) can be expected to draw on his experience at Granby Oil and Gas, one of the first of the new generation, AIM listed exploration companies that has since been purchased by Silverstone Energy. Will Holland (Macquarie Energy Capital) will provide the insights from the investment community, such as where and when value could be attributed to such resources. This will be followed by the view of one of the industry's most experienced auditors, Ben Cline (Gaffney Cline and Associates) who will probably provide the 'hardline' opinion. If the previous meeting entitled 'AIM for Resources and Reserves' is anything to go by, there will also be considerable discussion on what prospective resources really are!
Come along to the Geological Society on the evening of Thursday 25th September and join in the debate. The three invited speakers will present their case and will then be joined by Simon McDonald of ERC and Graeme Simpson of RPS Energy in a panel discussion chaired by Bernie Vining of Gaffney Cline. The evening will close with wine and savouries in the Lower Library at Burlington House.
