Shell London Lecture Series - 2008
During 2007, Burlington House played host to an exceedingly successful series of ten public lectures, sponsored by Shell as part of the Society’s Bicentennial Celebrations. The first, by the President, Richard Fortey, on History of Life was followed by topics as diverse as earthquakes, water resources and the geological record of climate change. The lectures proved to be immensely successful, with a packed auditorium at each event and audiences who appeared to have found the lectures both an enjoyable and stimulating experience. The Geological Society of London is delighted to announce that Shell would like to continue to support them during the International Year of the Planet Earth (2008), when they will form part of the Society’s contribution to the Year’s activities, and for a further two years after that. Monthly public lectures, all held at the Society's refurbished apartments in Burlington House, Piccadilly, will run throughout 2008. A draft programme is listed below and if you are interested in attending any of these lectures please contact Alys Johnson(see contact details below).
Entry to all lectures is free to all, but by ticket only. To obtain a ticket please contact Alys Johnson (see contact details below). Please note that due to the popularity of the lecture series, tickets will be allocated on a monthly basis. It would be helpful if those wishing to attend could indicate their preferred lectures. If at any point attendees are unable to attend and already have a ticket, please notify the Society as soon as possible.
