Job Posters FAQs

The FAQs should answer any questions you might have, but if you have any further queries please email sara.anders@geolsoc.org.uk.

I have submitted a job posting for moderation, how long will it take for my job posting to appear on the site?

Job postings are sent to the website administrator for moderation before they are published on the site. During office hours there will be a small delay and should take no longer than a few hours.

How long will my job posting remain on the website for?

If you do not specify a closing date, the job will remain on the website for 90 days.

How do I apply formatting to my job posting (e.g. bullet points, hyperlinks)?

All fields in the job posting form are plain text. Copy and paste your text into these fields and when the job posting is sent for moderation, the formatting will be applied for you.

I have entered a website address in the contact details field, why is it saying the website is not valid?

When entering a website address, please make sure that it starts with ‘http://’, e.g. http://www.geolsoc.org.uk

How can I select multiple sectors in the job Sector field?

To select a job sector, left hand click on the sector. If you want to select multiple sectors, press CTRL and then left hand click the other sectors. The selections you have made will be highlighted blue. To de-select any of the sectors, press CTRL and left hand click the sector again – this will no longer be highlighted blue.

I am using the ‘Keywords’ search field and searching for the job reference number, why is it not appearing in the search results?

Please note, that the keyword search does not actually search the job reference number unless the reference number is included in the job title.

What do the red ‘S’ and green ‘L’ mean in my list of Current Jobs?

A red ‘S’ means that the job has been created in staging mode and is waiting to be approved by a moderator. During this period you can continue to edit the job posting and the moderator will be notified of any changes that have been made. The job posting will appear as locked while it is in workflow and being published and you will not be able to make any changes during this time. When the job posting is published on the site you will see a green ‘L’ and you can continue to edit the job posting.
