Education / Careers

This area includes material relevant to all stages in the career of a geoscientist – from how geology is incorporated in the National Curriculum and other information for school teachers and students; through higher education and employment options; to lifelong learning and continuing professional development.

Educational issues are dealt with by the Education Committee. The Chairman is Professor David Sanderson and the responsible member of staff is Judi Lakin, the Education and Training Officer. (The Education Committee reports to the External Relations Committee).

Super-eruptions: reloaded!

The Super-eruptions publication is back on-line, as well as in print. This project was financed by The Geological Society and IAVCEI.

New accredited courses

mortar board Seven degree courses at King Abdul-Aziz University, Jeddah, have recently been accredited by the Society. Two further overseas applications are expected, and it is hoped that interest in accreditation at other universities in the Middle East will increase.
