Members of the London Geodiversity Partnership will be leading a geological walk round Richmond Park.

In an urban environment it is often difficult to ‘see’ the geology beneath our feet. This is also true within our open spaces.

In Richmond Park there is not much in the way of actual rocks to be seen but it is an interesting area geologically as several different rock types occur there. We will take clues from the landscape to see what lies beneath. Richmond Park affords fine views to both west and easy which will throw a wider perspective on the geology of London.

This will be a circular walk, beginning and ending at the Kingston Gate car park. We will stop for lunch in Pembroke Lodge, approximately half-way round.

How to attend

Meet 10.30 in the Kingston Gate Car Park (TQ 193 706 - map link). The nearest station is Norbiton, which is a 15-minute walk.

The walk is free and there is no need to book
