Fellows/Members of the Geological Society

I have forgotten my username

Please click on the ‘Forgotten login details?’ link at the top of any page. Under the username reminder section, if you are a Fellow please provide you Fellow number. A reminder of your username will be sent to the email address associated with your Fellowship profile. If you are not a Fellow please provide your email address.  A reminder of your username will then be emailed to you.

If there is an underscore in the username, e.g. john_2477 - please enter an underscore (not a space or a dash).

If you no longer have access to the email address associated with your profile, or you do not know your Fellow number, please email loginqueries@geolsoc.org.uk for further assistance. 

I have forgotten my password

Please click on the ‘Forgotten login details?’ link at the top of any page and under the reset password section please enter your username. A password reset link will be sent to the email address associated with your username.

If you do not know your username, please follow the above instructions.  Please email loginqueries@geolsoc.org.uk if you require any further assistance.

I have forgotten both my username and my password

Please follow the 'I have forgotten my username' instructions to retrieve your username.  You can then reset your password following the above instructions.

Requested a reminder of username and/or password but haven't received an email?

Your email provider may have classed the email we sent as spam or junk mail, please check your junk mail folder. If you add our sender’s domain to your safe list (‘@geolsoc.org.uk’) this will avoid this happening in the future. If you have still not received an email from us, please contact us.

How do I change my username and/or password, and other user information?

Once logged in, you can update any user information via the 'Edit personal details' link in the My GSL area.

How do I purchase items from the Bookshop using Fellow and/or other member discounts?

Fellows of the Geological Society - please login using your Society pre-registered username and password to view and purchase at the Fellows price.  See below for help with forgotten login details.

How can I subscribe to the e-newsletter?

You can sign up online for the main Society newsletter and our Bookshop newsletter on the newsletters page. Signing up for one newsletter will not automatically sign you up to the other. To receive both newsletters you must sign up to both separately.

I would like to view the William Smith Map, do I need to arrange a viewing?

The William Smith map can be viewed during office hours, 9:30am-5pm weekdays only. No appointment is necessary but please see the map page for full details.

Fellows of the Geological Society

I am a Fellow but I do not know my login details

I am a Fellow but when I login I cannot see my Fellowship details in MyGSL

All Fellows/Candidate Fellows/Junior Candidate Fellows of the Society are pre-registered on the website.  This will ensure you have access to the all Fellowship services and discounts on our online bookshop, event registrations etc.  If you have recently made an online application to join the Society and your application is approved, the username you provided on your application form will be your username for accessing all Fellowship services.  Fellows should not set up any new user profiles on the website.

If you login and your Fellowship details are not displayed in MyGSL it means that you are logged in with a user profile that is not connected to your Fellowship record.  If you use this profile you will not be able to access any Fellowship services or discounts.  To find out your login details please follow the instructions under I am a Fellow but I do not know my login details.

How do I update my Fellowship address?

Once logged in you can update your address by clicking 'Edit personal details' in the My GSL.   

I am trying to access CPD Reporting but I am seeing a message that this is only available to Fellows

Online CPD Reporting is only available to logged in Fellows. All Fellows are pre-registered on the site and should not re-register as your Fellowship status will not be recognised and you will not have access to Online CPD Reporting. Please email your name and Fellowship number to loginqueries@geolsoc.org.uk to receive a reminder of your login details.

I have not received my copy of Geoscientist

If you have not received your monthly copy of Geoscientist, please email membership@geolsoc.org.uk.

I have not received a copy of the journal as part of my membership subscription

If you have not received a copy of your subscribed journal, please email membership@geolsoc.org.uk

How can I make my CV visible?

You can do this by logging in accessing MyGSL.  Please click the 'Manage My CV' link in the blue 'What Can I do Next?' panel.  On the Manage My CV page, in the grey setting box at the top of the page you can update your settings to make your CV visible to other users of the website.

How do I change my visibility in the Fellowship Directory?

Once logged in, you can update your visibility in the Fellowship Directory by clicking on 'update' under 'Current Fellowship Directory / CV status' in the Fellows Area. When you have selected your preference, click 'Save' for the changes to take effect.

How can I change the journal I receive as part of my membership?

If you would like to change the journal you are currently subscribed to, please login and click 'update subscriptions' in the Fellows Area. Alternatively, please email membership@geolsoc.org.uk
