Aims
The South East Group of the Geological Society provides a focus for fellows and members of the Society, including professional and student geologists and geoscientists, within a large region extending from London to the south coast and from Guildford in the west to the east coast of Kent.
We aim to hold eight or so meetings each year generally covering topics in the fields of engineering geology, hydrogeology and the geological aspects of environmental engineering. As such, we hold some joint meetings with specialist groups within the Society (e.g. the Engineering Group), as well as with the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and the regional technical group of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Following the success of our first chartership evening, we intend to repeat this on a biannual basis depending on demand and we also plan to hold regular Young Geoscientist evenings.
In addition to the evening meetings, we aim to hold a number of daytime field meetings in the summer months and plan to expand this progamme in the future.
If you would like more information about the Society, or the South East Regional Group, please feel free to contact our Chair or Secretary, details to the right.
