EVENT CLOSED

Wolf Minerals (UK) Ltd. have agreed for us to have a field visit to the Drakelands (AKA Hemerdon) Mine construction works on Sunday 7 September (has to be a Sunday to avoid health & safety activities with construction works).

The field visit will be hosted by Dr. Richard Scrivener and Ken Scott (Wolf Minerals).

The visit will view the ongoing construction of the infrastructure works, including the start of the main tailings dam and processing plant, and may coincide with the construction of the grout curtain for the lower Tory Pond dam. Subject to time and access constraints, we may also be able to view the initial works in the pit area itself.

Event Details:

Meet in the car park of The Miner’s Arms, Hemerdon (NGR 256394 057370,  Postcode PL7 5BU) at 10:15 to then car-share up to the site at 10:30.

The field trip will take two hours or so, and perhaps return to the Miner’s Arms for some lunch (provided they are not fully booked with reservations).

Prior to entering the site, we will need to have a brief site induction to explain health & safety aspects.
Visitors will need to bring their own hard hat, safety footwear and ‘high-viz’ coat/vest.

Registration

Numbers are limited so if you are intending to attend the visit, please send an email (after 8th August) to [email protected] with ‘SWRG Drakelands’ as the subject line (note: please enter this correctly since it registers your email automatically).

Please indicate whether you’re interested in having lunch at the miner’s arms, because if sufficient people are we will try to reserve tables.
