This field meeting is being held jointly between the Glacial Landsystems Working Group (GLWG) and the Quaternary Research Association (QRA). It will investigate the evidence for recent proposals that Dartmoor has been glaciated at some time during the Quaternary, probably during the last glaciation. It will also address other issues relating to permafrost and periglacial landform development, specifically stone runs, boulder lobes and tor development, the latter also having been re-assessed in recent literature based upon a number of cosmogenic dates indicating formation during MIS 3. These recent developments indicate that Dartmoor, rather than being an ancient landscape produced by periglacial processes over the entire Quaternary, is actually a landscape modelled by Late Quaternary glacial and periglacial processes.

Accommodation is available at the Dartmoor Expedition Centre (students take priority) and at nearby B&Bs.
