HCNRG banner

The Home Counties North group covers north London, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. We aim to provide a friendly local focus for geology enthusiasts from all backgrounds, including academia, those working in the geoscience community or hobbyists. We welcome those still in education, non-member enthusiasts, as well as guests and co-professionals to join our activities.

Our committee is enthusiastic about providing events that cover a broad range of subject matter in the form of field trips, workshops, lectures, geology quiz social occasions and Geological Society outreach school geology proceedings. Venues for meetings include Ampthill, Aylesbury, Bishop's Stortford, Central London (not Burlington House), Harpenden, Hatfield, Hemel Hempstead, Husborne Crawley (Bedfordshire), Kettering, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Sharnbrook (Bedfordshire), Shutlanger (Northamptonshire), St Albans, Uxbridge, Ware and Burlington House. We endeavour to hold field trips throughout our region.

We aim to engage with the next generation and our younger members through the Schools Geology Competition, Early Career Geologist Award and by providing information about Chartership.

Anyone wishing to run a field trip in our region in 2024 would be very welcome. Please contact us by email with details.
