EVENT CLOSED
The GeolSoc’s Near Surface Geophysics Group (NSGG) will hold their Student Geophysics Symposium 2014 on Tuesday 13 May 2014, from 9am - 4pm, at BGS Keyworth.
The event will provide a forum for all students currently working in the areas of near-surface, environmental and applied geophysics to meet and network with each other.
Students present research-in-progress papers (15+5 min talks) about their projects, and answer questions from their peers. Postgraduate (PhD or Masters) projects as well as undergraduate projects (e.g. field courses) will be considered. Poster presentations can be arranged, provided there is sufficient interest.
The programme will include a keynote talk by Dr Adam Booth, Imperial College London:
“Geophysics in the freezer: Seismic properties of glacier ice”.
Attendance will be free to student contributors; admission for all other delegates will be £25.
A free lunch will be provided for all pre-registered attendees.
NSGG warmly invites contributions from all interested students in the UK and beyond. A Best Paper prize will be available. Everyone else wishing to get an insight into current research in near-surface geophysics is most welcome to attend.
Please send short abstracts (300 words max.) to the convenors by Friday 28 March 2014 (email: [email protected]).
More details are on the NSGG website.
