Description

Published by Seven Continents Science Productions and distributed by The Geological Society

Libya is rich in hydrocarbons. Especially the southern part of the country has attracted much of the petroleum industry's attention over the past 10 years.

This film aims to give a comprehensive introduction into the petroleum geology of the Murzuq and Kufra basins. The film is divided into 7 parts lasting 30-45 minutes each and may be used in individual or group training.

Desert outcrop scenes integrated with subsurface data form the core of the film and are supplemented by 3D¬satellite flights, conceptual 2D- and 3D-animations and modern facies analogues.

Senior geological experts are interviewed introducing the key elements of the regional geological history. A robust knowledge of the main trends in sedimentary facies and tectonic history forms the basis for efficient hydrocarbon exploration in the region.
