Endorsed Training Course: Geology of Britain

Gain an overview of our country's rich and varied geological heritage on a trip through >3 billion years of time - with a basic introduction to the main concepts of geology.
Led by Dr Annette McGrath, the course provides a thorough introduction to the geology of Britain provided via:
- A series of PowerPoint presentations,
- A practical session to look at a large selection of rocks, minerals, fossils, thin sections and geological maps from across Britain. A large selection of rocks, minerals and fossils from around the world are also available for students to handle.
- A morning field trip to examine the intrusive contact between the Threlkeld microgranite and Skiddaw Group in Threlkeld Quarry. This is followed by a visit to examine the geological collection at Threlkeld Quarry Mining Museum (the museum will open especially for the course participants).
The course includes a geological trip so please wear suitable clothes!

Fees: £233 (residential accommodation and including all meals) or £167 (non-residential, but including all meals).
