The Harbour Area Treatment Scheme (HATS) Stage 2A comprises three parts, which include the upgrading works for Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works (SCISTW), upgrading works for eight preliminary treatment works in Hong Kong Island and construction of a sewage conveyance system.

The upgrading works for SCISTW involve the construction of the world’s largest underground pumping station for chemically enhanced primary treatment works, a tunnel connecting the existing and the new pumping stations, 8 additional double-tray sedimentation tanks, new sludge dewatering facilities, a new effluent tunnel, 9 deodorisation units, disinfection facilities, covers to existing sedimentation tanks, a new control system and other ancillary facilities.

The on-going construction activities include construction of the main pumping station, construction of the sludge dewatering facilities, and lining works for the effluent tunnel.

Registration:

Prior registration is required. The number of attendees is limited to 30 and the applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to Fellows of HKRG GSL. Attendance CPD certificates will be provided after the site visit.

For registration, please download and complete the application form and return to Ms. Kitty Chan by email ([email protected]) on or before 30th July 2014. Successful applicants will be informed one week prior to the event. Anyone who withdraws less than 48-hours before the event will be given low priority for any future events that are over-subscribed.

Transportation Cost: A contribution of $20 per attendee will be collected on the day.

Safety Requirements:

All attendees should bring their own safety boots and hold a valid safety Green Card (or HKIE Corporate Membership Card). Safety helmet and reflective vest will be provided on site.
