CIWEM: Shale Gas and Integrated Water Management Conference
Organised by:
Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management
Venue:
SOAS, University of London
Event status:
EVENT CLOSED
The use of water in hydraulic fracturing to unlock natural gas trapped in shale formations has brought the water-energy nexus to the fore. Extracting shale gas via hydraulic fracturing generally poses greater environmental challenges than conventional methods of gas extraction and is still perceived as a highly controversial process by many.
A successful shale gas industry in the UK will depend on the use of leading technologies and approaches to monitoring and analysis. This event moves the discussion forward following the Infrastructure Act 2014 and will look in detail at the most important issues facing the industry.
