The meeting offers postgraduate students an exciting opportunity to meet and present their work to fellow members of the geophysics community in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Invited Speakers:
Dr. Catherine Rychert is the winner of the 2014 Bullerwell Award as ‘an outstanding young British Geophysicist’ for her pioneering work on seismic imaging of oceanic plate structure and hot spots. Her talk will be titled ‘Seismic constraints on the lithosphere-aesthenosphere boundary’, a subject on which she has over a decade of experience, receiving a NERC fellowship at the University of Bristol and publishing in both Science and Nature. Catherine currently lectures in geophysics at the University of Southampton.
Prof. Roger Searle has spent more four decades at the forefront of marine geophysics, specialising in oceanic tectonism, rifting and volcanism. Recent author of a textbook on mid-ocean ridges and with a research output exceeding 130 papers, Roger’s achievements have earned several notable accolades including the Price award of the Royal Astronomical Society and a fellowship with the American Geophysical Union. He currently holds the position of Emeritus Professor of Geophysics at the University of Durham.
