This course is held in conjunction with FINEX 2014, and provides an introduction to the principles underlying the group of reporting codes and standards that are based on the CRIRSCO International Template. Topics covered include:

  • Overview of the regulatory framework
  • The CRIRSCO template and definitions
  • Key features of the following:
    • JORC Code (Australasia)
    • NI 43-101 legislation and CIM Definition Standards (Canada)
    • PERC Code (Europe) 
  • Assessment and Reporting criteria
  • Competent Person responsibilities
  • Technical Reports and Competent Person’s Reports

The course aims to explain the main concepts underlying these codes and standards and will discuss some of the common issues that arise when preparing information for inclusion in Public Reports. Examples from different commodities and countries are used to illustrate expected best practice approaches and to provide an opportunity for course participants to exchange experiences on particular issues of concern.

Edmund Sides, Ph.D., P.Geo., EurGeol.

Edmund Sides is a Technical Director with AMEC, based in the UK. Ed has over 25 years of experience in mineral exploration and resource geology related to many different types of commodity. He specializes in the incorporation of geological controls into mineral resource estimates, and the management of the transition of geological and resource estimation studies from advanced exploration to feasibility stage.
